Satcom reflectors are used for data communication with satellites. Especially in high-performance applications like for military applications, composites are used to enable very lightweight, but accurate and stiff reflectors.

We are developing new techniques for satcom reflectors:

• one-shot injection: to use resin injection and create a sandwich structure in one production step which reduces the production cost dramatically
• axi-symmetric fibre architectures: for optimal performance, the fibres are orientated in radial and circumference direction of the reflector
• advanced fiber placement: automated production of prepreg-autoclave reflectors
• metal coating: a highly accurate, electrical conductive coating to ensure the highest reflectivity
• thermoplastic composites: novel production methods such as fibre placement, press forming and welding, suited for high-volume production
