In May 2009, Airborne Composite Tubulars secured a subsidy, from the Dutch Maritime Innovation Programme, for a development programme on LNG pipeline and transfer systems.
The potential of applying composites is tremendous: Earlier work performed by Airborne showed the benefits of using composites to create cost effective pipeline and transfer systems with smooth bores, which have a game-changing influence on the industry:
· The pressure drop is reduced, reducing boil-off to a minimum.
· Longer transfer lines can be used enabling offshore tandem offloading of LNG FPSO’s.
· Cost effective pipelines allow for onshore re-gasification.
The programme will build further on earlier successful work Airborne performed on cryogenic pipelines. For more information, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it MSc., Managing Director Airborne Composite Tubulars B.V.
